We are encouraged by the remarkable standards of the nominations. The Chairman’s Award winner, Ng Yuk Roof Garden should be proud of itself as it reflects the inspirations jointly envisioned by the students and teacher from non-construction background, which has set an excellent model of getting the sustainability message across to the next generation and the community.” Sr Sam CHENG Sum-hing, Chairman of Green Building Award 2014 Organising Committee, remarked. “We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Jury Panel, members of the GBA 2014 Organising Committee, Scientific Sub-Committee and the sponsors in giving full support to this Award.”
“From the finalist projects of the GBA 2014, it is particularly impressive to see how sustainability is being integrated into a wide range of buildings, from high-rise commercial buildings, to university hostels, high-end residential properties and public housing estates. This shows that green building is gaining momentum throughout the industry and the actual behavioural changes are taking place.” said Ir Prof CHOY Kin-kuen, Chairman of Professional Green Building Council.
“Tonight is a special occasion with double happiness as the GBA 2014 ceremony coincides with the HKGBC’s 5th anniversary. Over the past 5 years, we are distinctively honoured to have the full support from the Construction Industry Council (CIC), Hong Kong Government, industry, academia and the community to bring us to today’s important milestone.” said Ir Conrad WONG Tin-cheung, BBS, JP, Chairman of the HKGBC. “Amongst our most memorable achievements in 2014 were attaining a record number of nominations for the GBA 2014, as well as our strongest-ever participation in the World Sustainable Building Conference 2014 held in Barcelona in October 2014; and getting the hosting rights of the WorldGBC Congress 2015, and the World Sustainable Built Environment Conference 2017, which will be co-organised with the CIC. We still have a long way to go but I am very confident that our effort will create an impact far beyond our imagination.”
